About Me

BACKGROUND:

I am a National Academy of Sports Medicine NASM and National Strength Professionals Association NSPA certified personal trainer since 2001. In my previous life I was an elementary school teacher for 12 years. But I LOVE my second career and really prefer teaching ADULTS how to stay fit! I am also Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certified. I also have a special certification in TRXSuspension Training.

Personally, I enjoy running and triathlon and have run 27 marathons and have also completed 4 Ironman triathlons . I am thinking about training for another Ironman in 2014. Having a race on the calendar really keeps me motivated to get those workouts done! Most recently I did my first 5-mile open water swim!

TRAINING PHILOSOPHY:

I enjoy working with clients of all abilities, ages, and skill levels from the brand new exerciser to athletes. I work hard to make sure each workout session is a little different than the last. No repeat workouts - for I believe it is important to keep both your muscles and your brain challenged. Also doing a variety of exercises keeps you interested with leads to consistency and ultimately leads you to the results you want! Of course remaining injury free! I work with my clients to make sure they have a certain fitness goal in mind - such as playing more with their kids or doing a first 5k. This makes it certain that all workouts are specific and worthwhile.

SPECIALTIES:

Core and Functional training using unstable surfaces like the stability ball and Bosu. Strength work using cable, tubing, and the TRX Suspension Training.

Cardiovascular fitness, heart rate training, running and triathlon.
